Settling into CoWork Crèche: How long should it take and what to expect

Settling your child into CoWork Crèche varies with each child. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your child’s personality and previous experiences with separation. While every child is unique, most children settle within 2–4 weeks.

A gentle start: our recommended approach

Step 1: Orientation Sessions (Free 1 hour sessions)

We offer up to 6 free orientation sessions designed for your child to meet our staff and other children, explore the space, and share routines.

Step 2: Shorter sessions
If possible, begin with two to three half‑day sessions per week rather than one or two full days. This builds familiarity and trust faster.

Step 3: Consistency
Stick with your plan for a few weeks. It’s common for children not to fully settle in the first or even second session—time and repetition help. We find children that attend around 2 to 3 sessions each week settle into their new routine with ease.

Top Tips for a smooth transition

🐢 Start slowly
Gradually introduce your child to their new environment. Shorter, more frequent sessions often help children adjust at their own pace.

🦋 Create a goodbye ritual
Consistency is calming. Use a simple, predictable routine (a hug, a phrase, a wave at the window). For older babies and toddlers (1–2 years), frequent in‑and‑out visits can be unsettling. You’re always welcome to pop in; however, in the early weeks we suggest visiting around lunchtime to share a meal/play or to assist with nap time. This reduces the expectation that you will return repeatedly, which can otherwise lead to ongoing tears or separation anxiety.

🐶 Stay calm and positive
Children read your cues. A confident, warm goodbye tells them they’re safe and supported.

🐣 Talk about our Crèche positively
At home, chat about our staff, friends, and fun activities. This builds comfort and excitement.

🐨 Bring a comfort item
A familiar blanket, soft toy, or dummy can provide reassurance.

🐳 Be patient
Every child’s timeline is different. Offer reassurance and give it time—most children adapt and begin to enjoy their new routine.
